Las Vegas Homes With a Walk-In Pantry
The stretch of Interstate 10 that connects Las Vegas to neighboring state, California, is problematic for commuters or visitors who get snarled in traffic. But, along those same commercial routes are the roads to wine country. Gifted grape growers send along their fermented fruits to thirsty desert dwellers at seasonal intervals.
California isn't the exclusive supplier of wine to Las Vegas, but the region does cast a spirited shadow on the desert valley. Dedicated aficionados search the arid landscape for Las Vegas homes with a built-in wine cellar.
Restaurants and bars in Las Vegas like Hugo's Cellar, and aptly named Wine Cellar and Tasting Room, flaunt collections with higher constituencies than some towns in Nevada. Aureole Restaurant in the Mandalay Bay Casino shows off its four-story wine tower six days a week. Las Vegas homes with built-in wine cellars might be slight in quantity compared to commercial watering holes, but they are well-capitalized players.

Transferring their experience from legendary hotel giant, Wynn Corporation, the designers of Cavu created the next generation wine cellar for their home. Cavu is a 13,000 + custom home in The Ridges, nicknamed "the house entertainment built."
On the bottom floor the architects dubbed "Play," the wine "cellar" is more of a self-contained vault encased in bright lights than a cavernous perforation. The illuminated capsule helps bottle counters keep track of their stash with a computerized inventory system.
Traditional cellars constructed below deck accommodate wine enthusiasts in more subtle ways. Climate controlled refrigerators keep bubbles ready to burst, or other varietals at optimum temperature. Environmental restraints are virtually the only limitations when it comes to wine cellars.
Wine racks no longer consist of flimsy wire or ordinary 2 x 4 shelves. Vintage View, a company, headquartered in Colorado, supplies modular storage units for custom wine cellars. The "units" are metal and glass cradles that support wine bottles horizontally vs. cork down like traditional wine storage methods. Wine labels are in full view thanks to the storage design that allows the bottles to lie flush with the edge of the metal cradle. Guests can pick their poison without rummaging through shelves of stacked glass.

Mountains are prevalent in Las Vegas, but creating caverns for wine storage is not the preferred method. Glass walls simulate cellar design in modern Las Vegas architecture. Transparent structures are common in the desert, an optical illusion to allow the eye freedom to capture all the natural surroundings. Hardened silica also serves to keep the elements out or invite them in. With the cellar dilemma, glass walls encase collections and allow for optimal temperatures.
But wine cellars are not limited to single-family homes. One Queensridge Place, a luxury high-rise condo community in Summerlin, offers condo owners a section of the on-site cellar to squirrel away their liquid delights.
Although the old vines don't reach the sandy slopes of the desert, fruit-borne elixirs are a salutary trend in Las Vegas homes. Cellars are evolving, much like their inventories. Start your search for homes in Las Vegas with a built-in wine cellar today!
