Las Vegas Homes With Attached Garage
Garages are a must-have in homes to keep automobiles out of the scorching Las Vegas sun. Heat can wreak havoc on paint and the delicate interiors of luxury cars, so Las Vegas homes with three or more stall garages are in demand.
But Las Vegas homes with multi-car garages are not just for utility purposes. These halting places for the heavy-duty horsepower set make for realized dreams for car enthusiasts. The most famous garage in Las Vegas belonged to Gary Primm, the legendary resort developer. His pony palace consisted of a 20-space ode to the automobile, complete with a deionized wash station and mechanics bay. A Coke machine and movie theater-grade popcorn popper added to the charm. Down the street, the Sultan of Brunei built 7030 Tomiyasu Lane with a comparable, if not smaller, garage. Eleven stalls make room for a lot of horses, or in this case, horsepower.

For sports superstars like boxer Floyd Mayweather, luxury garages show off multi-million dollar autos like Mr. Mayweather's new Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. At $3.5 million, the investment needs the protection of a first-rate storage facility.
Then there are small-screen celebrities like Zac Bagans, the host of the paranormal show "Ghost Adventures," who call Las Vegas home. Mr. Bagans' home in The Ridges neighborhood enjoys many deluxe attributes, including a four-car garage where his Lamborghini rests when not in use.
In 2012, over 50% of Las Vegas households surveyed had two or more vehicles. Scenarios like families with multiple children of driving age, recreational vehicles, off-road autos, a special place for the convertible, and the every-day driving machine contribute to the need for a garage with three or more stalls. Storage is also a need fulfilled by a multi-car garage.
In addition to petrol-fueled autos, the introduction of electric cars calls for a new slot in the garage configuration. From luxury models like Tesla and the BMW i3 to American classics like Chevy and Cadillac, the electric car craze is altering garage space all over the desert.
For the new breed of transportation on the roads, and in garages, certain provisions must be made. These autos need dedicated outlets to charge. A typical electric car battery would need 25 hours to charge to capacity on a standard home outlet. Level 2 240 volt chargers help with juicing times, Tesla's NEMA 14-50 power outlet provides 58 miles of driving per one hour of charging. But, these outlets have to be professionally installed by an experienced electrician.

Another addition to the garage to accommodate electric vehicles is surge protection. A lightning strike can zap a $15,000 battery in seconds. Surge protection for a home is 10% of that cost. Then there is the climate control factor. Lithium-ion batteries charge faster when the surrounding temperature is between 50 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Las Vegas sees those temperatures at times a few months out of the year. Controlling the temperature of the garage ensures optimal charging.
